Score High in Composition Writing Book 2 is published as a follow up to the Score High in Composition Writing Book 1 for Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils. It is designed as an intensive composition practice book consisting of a variety of topics carefully selected upon considering the upper primary MOE syllabus.
Pupils are encouraged to attempt each question paper on their own by writing two compositions based on two different pictures. In this way, they are able to view a question paper topic from different perspectives. After attempting, they are also encouraged to use the checklist provided to ensure they have avoided common errors.
Section 1 consists of 15 composition question papers set according to the current PSLE format.
Section 2 consists of 30 model compositions based on the practice question papers provided in Section 1. The compositions are presented in the ‘cloze’ form with 20 or 25 blanks. Pupils are to fill in the blanks by selecting the most suitable word from the choices provided. These choices are made up of interesting vocabulary and phrases that would add more flair to the compositions.
To obtain optimal benefit from this book, pupils must keep reading the model compositions regularly to remember the new vocabulary and phrases that they have been introduced to.
Section 3 consists of the same 30 model compositions found in Section 2. They are presented here in their original form for students to read in their entirety, and highlight the interesting vocabulary and phrases found in them that would captivate the reader’s attention.
The Glossary found at the end of the book is presented here in the form of a mini dictionary for students to check the meanings of difficult words or phrases found in the compositions. They will not only understand the meanings but also learn how to use these words and phrases in a sentence.
